Gatwick fashion week
Gatwick fashion week launched in style in the North terminal in
August and celebrity fashion favourite Gok Wan was right in the
middle of the action.
Passengers and staff all joined the fun and the MAC makeup girls
took centre stage offering makeovers and tips to passengers whilst
the WDF staff got involved in both in-store and front-of-store
activities. From hand massages to skin consultations, liquor
tasting to sun advice, the store was bursting with life. Gok Wan
put in a guest appearance and left lots of passengers – and staff –
star struck.
While Gok gave fashion tips on the catwalk, WDF employees were
busy giving their own tips, whether it was for which travel
adaptors passengers needed or the newest fragrances available. It
was busy but very exciting.
Commercial and retail marketing director Jo O’Connor said there
was a superb buzz in the airport.
Big discounts for WDF employees
There are plenty of perks to working at WDF – the famous faces
you get to meet, the great team spirit and the buzz of the airport
environment. However, discounted staff shopping has to be one of
the biggest and best plusses for WDF people. Known around the
business as SPLAT – Staff Purchases Low And Tempting – this fab
facility gives our people up to 50% off prices in the terminal.
Here are the facts about SPLAT: It’s open to all staff who have
worked continually for WDF for a minimum of three months, whether
full time staff, temporary, part-time, agency or consultants.
There are over 19,000 products available to purchase, ranging
from perfume to cosmetics, handbags, watches and jewellery.
The level of discount depends on the item bought – most of the
higher reductions are found in the perfume ranges. Purchases can be
made for personal use and close family. But of course, buying
products for resale isn’t allowed!
There’s a website where staff can check for the latest bargains,
and there are regular stock clearances featuring heavily reduced
items.
