I love working at the airport. It’s busy, varied and the team at World Duty Free is great. My team leader is an excellent motivator and she really brings us all together.

Every day, we receive three deliveries. All the stock comes in cages and we pull them on wheels into the storeroom. It looks like hard, heavy work but it’s not bad at all. It’s good exercise really, and my manager jokes that I should be paying him because I don’t need to go to the gym anymore!

August is an incredibly busy month and the stock just flies off the shelves. Especially the alcohol and chocolate – as soon as we turn around, it’s sold and we have to restock. It’s good being out on the shop floor though. The customers are nice and it’s great to get the chance to interact with them. Plus, we get excellent benefits. My family love my staff discounts – every Christmas they get lots of perfume.

The training here is second to none. In fact, not long ago, I went on a chocolate training session run by Lindt. I learned so much, and of course I got to eat plenty too!

I only work three days a week, in blocks of 12 hours. I really enjoy the shift work because it means I can spend time with my family. I have two daughters and it’s great being able to see them more. I only live about six miles away, so starting early is not a problem, plus there’s free parking so it’s nice and easy.
