Name: Angela Garratt
Airport: Manchester Terminal 1
Store: Biza
Position: Trading Manager
Angela Garrett has been with WDF for about
eight-and-a-half years, working in different stores. Before that,
she worked in high street retail.
I used to work in London before I moved to Manchester. One of
the benefits of working at WDF is that there are so many shops all
over the country – if you want to move somewhere else, there’s a
good chance you’ll be able to. We’re the country’s largest airport
retailer and our stores are everywhere.
I manage the 45 consultants who work across the perfume and
makeup lines we stock. I do the rostering, check sales figures and
budgets, and make sure we have the right amount of products,
appropriately merchandised, out on the shop floor. It’s a bit of
everything and I love it.
Beauty is a luxury category and I love seeing all the new
products first. The beauty products are great to sell and talk
about. I also organise all the different skincare and beauty
training sessions for my staff. The representatives from different
companies come in, or else we go to them – either way, everyone
learns so much and gets a lot out of it.
I really enjoy working at Manchester Airport. We often see
famous faces – footballers and their wives, boy bands – once we
even saw the cast of Coronation Street. The team tend to get quite
excited when that happens.
We each have our own airside pass, so I often find that when I’m
walking around the terminal with it around my neck, passengers ask
for help or directions. It’s good to be able to sort them out and
help them on their way.
