Heathrow Airport

The largest, busiest airport in the United Kingdom. That makes for a lot of people passing through sniffing perfume and sizing up teddy bears! Heathrow is a primary hub for BMI, Virgin Atlantic and British Airways, who have taken up residence in the shiny new Terminal 5. It’s a popular long haul departure point, with the busiest single destination being New York.

Our staff regularly meet famous customers – Cheryl Cole, Leona Lewis, Jay Sean, Uma Thurman and Take That – just to name a few. But, whether the customers are A-listers or not, our staff give everyone star treatment.

Gatwick Airport

London's second largest airport and second busiest in the United Kingdom after Heathrow. When opened by Queen Elizabeth II in June 1958, the Minister of Transport and Aviation remarked on the excitement saying ‘new types of aircraft bring the whole world closer together.’ Even though it’s still a single-runway airport, Gatwick managed to handle over 34m passengers in 2008. That’s one busy runway.

Stansted Airport

A major hub for European low-cost carriers, London Stansted is a passenger airport located in Essex, 48 km (30 mi) northeast of central London. During WWII, the airport was opened as a bomber airfield and major maintenance depot for both the RAF and US Air Force. In the 1960s, Stansted moved on to become a passenger airport – but life is still far from quiet for the airfield, with over 22m people flying in and out in 2008.

Runnymede Central Distribution Centre

Our Central Distribution Centre is a 24-hour operation based in Surrey, just to the south west of London. It services all of the WDF stores across the country – 365 days a year. The close-knit team of 170 operates on a shift basis; working together in the fast-paced environment to ensure every one of our products gets to the airport and the customer, in perfect condition.

To get there you’ll need your own transport, but free parking is available. If you’re based here you’ll join teams in either goods in, picking deliveries, or despatch.

Windsor

One of the official residences of the royal family and a popular tourist destination, Windsor is a bustling, thriving town in Berkshire. Although small, Windsor has a theatre, two railway stations and many hotels. Windsor Castle is the town’s showpiece – a majestic, stately building overlooking the town.

For many visitors to the UK, a trip to Windsor is a must. So it’s lucky that WDF’s only off-airport Glorious Britain store is just across the road from the main attraction, Windsor Castle. Manager Gabriella Ramasso and her team thrive on an old-fashioned way of customer service. The store is surprisingly large and caters for all tastes from delicate china teacups to Beatles memorabilia, and Paddington Bear to postcards.

Staff at Windsor’s Glorious Britain store have, in the past, rubbed shoulders with many famous faces – the Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, King Hussein of Jordan, Sophie the Duchess of Wessex and Elton John – just to name a few.
